A series of ninety-one letters dated 1750-1765 from Perelli to a friend and fellow scholar. Much of the content is devoted to local gossip, to reports on local festivities and to arrangements for settling Perelli's debts or supplying him with fabrics, furnishings and books and instruments. There are also frequent references to Perelli's library; to his collection of globes, sculpture and antiquities (and especially his bronze bust of Galileo); to his own biographical writings (on Giuseppe Maria Brocchi, the typographer) or that of others on Galileo; to his visit to and scholarship on Byzantine sites in Ravenna; and to his projects in astronomy and flood control in Bologna, Florence and Cento. The series also includes four letters from Bologna, 1733-1734, relating the contest for a chair in geometry there.
